Advanced tooth decay can sometimes cause significant damage to a tooth, which simply cannot be saved by a conventional root canal. In these cases, the tooth might simply need to be extracted. Once your gums have healed, Dr. Becker can restore the lost tooth by mounting a bridge.

A bridge is essentially an artificial tooth, similar to a crown, that is fused to two other crowns. The entire bridge is then anchored on abutments formed out of the two closest teeth.

Our dentist in Fishers, Indiana, will create the two abutments by using a drill to remove the majority of their tooth enamel. Then an impression is formed of the abutments, as well as the void and the relationship to your unique bite pattern.

All of this is shipped to a dental lab that will custom craft your new bridge. Temporary crowns will be placed over each abutment to protect them during the interim.

Once the dental lab has completed your new bridge, Dr. Becker will call you back in to cement the bridge into place. With proper care and cleaning, your new bridge will effectively restore the full function of your lost tooth for many years to come.
