Maintaining a strong, healthy, and successful oral cavity can be a tedious task, but it is most definitely worth it. If you properly care for your smile, you will have a better chance at preventing major dental issues, like tooth decay and gum disease, and you will have the beautiful and strong smile you are proud of. To properly clean your teeth, please include the following tasks in your teeth cleaning routine:

Brush your teeth: Brush your teeth every morning when you wake up and every night before you go to bed. As you brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. These products will clean and nourish your smile as well as care for your gums.

Floss your smile: Floss between each tooth at least once a day. Doing so will free any food particles that your toothbrush failed to remove and it will also help you remove the plaque that grows on your teeth. If you would like flossing tips, please call our office now.

Rinse your mouth: Rinse your mouth daily with bacteria-killing, anti-gingivitis, or fluoride mouthwash. Doing so will help deeply clean your smile, prevent gum disease, and nourish your pearly whites. Simply sip a small amount of the liquid into your mouth and swish it around for about 30-40 seconds, or for however long the mouthwash label suggests. When the time is up, spit the liquid into the sink.

Attend your dental cleanings every six months: Your dental cleanings are the most important steps in properly cleaning your smile. During your appointments, the dentist or hygienist will deeply clean and nourish your smile. They will also remove the plaque from the surfaces of your teeth, which will help prevent gum disease. If the plaque is left untreated, it could eventually lead to loose and lost teeth.
