Soft-tissue injuries in Fishers, Indiana, can involve the lips, gums, cheeks, and tongue. If you are currently suffering from a soft-tissue injury, our My Dental Care team has some tips for you that will help you begin restoring your oral health!
First, please stay calm. Panicking won’t help you one bit. Second, when you’re ready, please do the following things:
-Rinse: Rinse your mouth with mild saltwater solution. This will help you clean the injured area and reduce the bacteria and germs that can cause infection.
-Apply pressure: Use a moistened gauze pad or tea bag and apply pressure to the bleeding area. Hold it in place for 15 to 20 minutes or until the bleeding stops.
-Reduce swelling: Try to reduce swelling, control bleeding, and relieve pain by holding a cold compress to the outside of the affected area. It’s best to do this for about 15-20 minutes.
-See your dentist: It’s important that you see your dentist right away if the bleeding doesn’t stop. If your dentist is not available, please visit the hospital emergency room. Until you are treated, continue to apply pressure to the injured area.
